Portland, Oregon is one of the most beautiful and unique cities in the Pacific Northwest to get married in. From the old-growth forests of Forest Park to the stone steps of Multnomah County Courthouse, from misty Columbia River Gorge viewpoints to intimate Pearl District rooftops — the city offers an extraordinary range of backdrops for couples who want their wedding photos to feel as individual as they are.

My Approach to Wedding Photography in Portland

I'm Igor Wojtaszek, a Portland-based wedding and elopement photographer. My approach is documentary — I'm there to observe and capture, not to direct. The photos I care about most are the ones that happened naturally: the nervous laugh before vows, the way you look at each other when you don't think anyone is watching, the exhale after you're finally married.

I specialize in intimate weddings, courthouse ceremonies, micro weddings, and elopements. If you're planning something small, personal, and meaningful — this is exactly what I do.

What Makes Portland Wedding Photography Special

Portland's famous overcast light is actually a photographer's dream. Soft, even, flattering light means no harsh shadows and no squinting. It makes skin tones glow and colors pop in a way that bright sunshine rarely does. On the rare golden days, the light here is extraordinary — warm and cinematic in a way that's uniquely Pacific Northwest.

The city itself is visually rich. Exposed brick, cobblestone streets, lush greenery year-round, dramatic bridges over the Willamette — Portland gives couples a canvas that doesn't require traveling to a destination. Your own city can feel like a destination when you see it through the right lens.

Types of Weddings I Photograph in Portland

Courthouse weddings at Multnomah County are one of my specialties. They're intimate, fast-paced, and full of real emotion — exactly what documentary photography thrives on. After the ceremony, we'll explore the courthouse surroundings and nearby waterfront for portraits that feel relaxed and genuine.

Elopements are another specialty. Whether you're planning a private ceremony in Forest Park, a sunrise moment at Crown Point, or a quiet exchange of vows in your favorite neighborhood, I'll be there to capture it all without interrupting the magic.

Micro weddings of up to around 20 guests are a perfect fit for my style. Small enough to feel personal, large enough to share with the people who matter most. I work well without a rigid timeline or coordinator — just two people, a small circle of loved ones, and a beautiful Portland setting.

Favorite Portland Wedding Photo Locations

Some of my favorite spots to photograph couples in Portland include the Japanese Garden in Washington Park, the Eastbank Esplanade along the Willamette, the bridges (especially the Steel Bridge and Hawthorne Bridge at golden hour), the lush trails of Forest Park, the Pearl District's leafy streets, and of course the Multnomah County Courthouse downtown.
